Please join us for a conversation between Ari Benjamin Meyers – whose project The Name of This Band Is The Art (Tel Aviv-Yafo) is currently presented at CCA Tel Aviv-Yafo – and Arnon Ben-Dror, who is the guest curator of the same project. During the conversation Meyers and Ben-Dror will guide us through Meyers’s practice which he summarizes by saying that “music is not just that which you hear. It is the people making the music, the score, the contract, the situation, the labor conditions… The sound is only the tip of the iceberg.”

Using The Name of This Band Is The Art (Tel Aviv-Yafo) as a starting point, the conversation will be a unique opportunity to discover Meyers’s special modus operandi, which, informed by Conceptual Art and Relational Aesthetics, takes advantage of the open-ended nature of the contemporary art space in order to explore the social dimensions and reshape the performative codes of the musical act.
